Phases In The American Core Curriculum

The American Core Curriculum is structured into learning phases. The elementary phase and middle school phase. Each phase is deigned to match a child's developmental stage, gradually building academic skills, independence and critical thinking.

Elementary Phase (Grade R-5)

This phase lays the foundation for lifelong learning. It focuses on building strong literacy and numeracy skills, while nurturing curiosity, creativity and a positive attitude towards learning.

Key Learning Areas Include:

English Language Arts:   Phonics reading fluency, grammar, writing, spelling,                                     comprehension.

Mathematics:                 Counting basic operations, place value, fractions,:                                           measurement and geometry.

Science:                         Exploration of the natural world, basic life                                      sciences,earth and space, simple investigations

Social Studies:                Community, geography, culture, history, and foundational                  civic understanding.
