Information
The American High School Diploma is typically studied over a period of 4 years from grades 9-12.
There is no national curriculum to follow, learners need to accumulate a minimum of 22 credits from grades 9-12 and need to complete certain
core subjects and six electives.
With the exception of learners seeking university admission there are no standardised tests/examinations.

Math | 4 Credits | Integrated Math I, II, III, IV, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Calculus, Statistics, Accounting, Business Math or other courses |
Science | 3 Credits | Integrated Science courses, Biology, Physics, Chemistry or other science courses. Example: integrated Chemistry and Physics; Advanced integrated Chemistry-Physics; Integrated Biology, Chemistry Physics I, II, III |
Social Studies | 3 Credits | South African History, World History and Geography, Macro/micro Economics or other social studies courses. |
Personal Finance | 0.5 Credit | Not the same as Econmics and is in addition to the math required |
Health | 0.5 Credit | Any health or wellness class. Not the same as Physical Education or sports |
Physical Education | 1 Credit | 150 hours of any physical sport or activity |
Electives | 6 Credit | Choose any courses based on student's goals or interests. Must have at least 6 credits. |
Total Credits | 22 Credits | Required for graduation |
