International Lower Secondary
Cambridge International Lower Secondary (Ages 11–14) Years 7–9 | Stages 7–9
Cambridge Lower Secondary provides a broad, balanced, and flexible curriculum designed to help learners develop essential academic and life skills as they transition from Primary to more specialised study. Tailored for learners aged 11 to 14, it builds a strong foundation for success in Cambridge IGCSE and beyond.
This stage supports learners as they begin to think more critically, take responsibility for their learning, and prepare for more formal assessment pathways. It combines academic rigour with global relevance to ensure learners are equipped for the demands of the 21st century.
The curriculum focuses on four essential learning areas that promote deeper understanding, analytical thinking, and real-world application:
- English
Strengthens skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, developing effective communication, vocabulary expansion, and language analysis. - Mathematics
Covers number systems, measurement, algebra, geometry, data handling, and problem-solving, with a focus on logical reasoning and applied thinking. - Science
Explores biology, chemistry, and physics through scientific enquiry, encouraging learners to observe, hypothesise, and experiment—cultivating curiosity and scientific literacy. - Global Perspectives
A dynamic subject that builds critical thinking, research, communication, and collaboration skills. Learners investigate global themes such as sustainability, identity, conflict, and interdependence—preparing them to be globally minded, reflective citizens.
At Latitude Home Education, we understand that every learner is unique. That’s why the Cambridge Lower Secondary curriculum is flexible—parents and learners can select subjects based on interests, learning styles, and future goals.
