International Primary

Cambridge International Primary (Stages 1–6 / Years 1–6) is designed for learners aged 5 to 11 years and provides a strong foundation in key subjects while encouraging active engagement, critical thinking, and independent learning.

At Latitude Home Education, we offer a flexible and adaptable Primary curriculum tailored to suit individual learning styles and home education needs. Whether your child is a hands-on learner or excels through structured academic work, our programme supports both.

The Cambridge Primary curriculum focuses on building strong foundational knowledge and essential skills in four core areas:

  • English
Developing learners’ abilities in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, with a focus on communication, comprehension, and vocabulary-building.

  • Mathematics
Covering core mathematical concepts such as numbers, operations, measurement, geometry, data handling, and problem solving, preparing learners to think logically and apply maths in real-world contexts.

  • Science
Encouraging scientific enquiry and curiosity through topics in biology, chemistry, and physics. Learners explore natural phenomena, conduct experiments, and begin to think like young scientists.

  • Global Perspectives
A unique, skills-based subject that helps learners develop critical thinking, research, collaboration, and communication skills. Through engaging topics such as identity, culture, sustainability, and change, learners build an understanding of global issues and diverse perspectives—preparing them to become responsible, informed global citizens.

These subjects are aligned with global standards and promote the Cambridge learner attributes.

To provide a more holistic and personalised experience, learners may choose from a range of additional subjects: (Optional subjects, available on request)

  • Afrikaans
  • Geography
  • History
  • Digital Literacy (including coding and computational thinking)
